Week 10: Literature Review (25/9/2018)

Literature Review

There are number of methods and approaches being used or proposed to make a home security more modern and easy to use. One of the method is (Nikhil Agarwal and Subramanya G Nayak, 2012) constructed an all-in-one system namely “Microcontroller Based Home Security System with Remote Monitoring” which has focused based the monitoring system. The system use ATmega16, which might execute up to sixteen Million instruction per second. The system is absolutely digital and even be absolutely custom. The project consists of, IR transmitter and receiver module that works for the protection of doors at the hours of darkness or just in case we have a tendency to area unit out of home. When the IR sensors are interrupted, a buzzer is turned on indicating someone has entered into the house. The show could be a 16X2 alphanumeric display panel. The other module is, fireplace alarm uses temperature sensing element LM35 that senses unforeseen significant increase in temperature and raises alarm. As conclusion, having this all-in-one security system, it can provide safety features for a home by alarming the residents from natural, accidental and/or human dangers.

Other than that, for research journal (Ashish J, Mahesh K, Mahesh W, 2013). The project is “Feasibility Study of Implementation of Cell Phone Controlled, Password Protected Door Locking System”. The project based on cell phone controlled security system by using DTMF. The function of DTMF signaling technology is to send and receive the control commands from user in order to open or close the door. Password protection is given to the system with help of microcontroller and corresponding algorithm that authenticate the user by checking the password provided by the user. Opening and closing of doors involves human to be physically concerned. Mobile based application is great reception since almost anyone have a mobile phone. This method is very convenient since it can provide high security protection to home, and the places where the confidentiality, privacy and security is to be preserved.

Lastly from the journal (Sriharsha B S, Zabiullah, Vishnu S B, and Sanju V, 2016), the project is Password Protected Locking System Arduino. This project uses an Arduino kit that consists of ATmega 328 which is one of the most popular microcontrollers that consists of 14 digital pins and 6 analog general purpose pins, EEPROM of capacity 1KB and a ram of 2KB. The Arduino then connected to the keypad for password and servo motor to control, the locking mechanism. The biggest advantage of using Arduino is that its library of examples present inside the software of Arduino. Thus, by working on Arduino based project, user just have to provide the idea. The remaining will handle by Arduino itself.

For conclusion, there are a lot of microcontroller that can be used to develop a security system. By combining the microcontroller such as AVR, ARM or 8051 and a hardware such as motor driver, keypad, and fingerprint sensor etc, user can develop a security system that suits whatever the requirement.

Week 18: The Submission

In this final week of the semester, I have done the report hardcover, all the document that needed to submitting online and ready to submit....
